Maxwell Hammer is a great assister to others; your light through the dark tunnel
Cool Hi, firt time here, need help

Hi everyone, I need advice on limewire 5.6.2. I downloaded it approx six weeks ago and everything has been going well. Yesterday I see a set up page, which reads.

Setup -Step 1 of 2
Please take a minute to configure these options before moving on.

File associations & starting

Associate magnet links & torrents files with limewire.

Launch limewire at system start up.

My question is do I have a virus or is this normal to get a setup page six weeks afterwards and why (if the answer is YES)? This page comes up and does not let me have axis to limewire.
Thanks. Great forum.

Sounds suspicious. Have you scanned your computer for viruses?

If you used/installed any other programs that have torrent abilities, then the default may have changed & LPE would ask you again whether you wish to change default magnet back. However I do not think it would take you all way back through the set up. Windows is not my main operating system so perhaps someone else can give advice there.

Confused

I have used AVG, Trend Micro Housecall, Panda, Avast, Malwarebyte as well as Spybot & Ad Adware for malware.

Is the set up page with a black border and grey filler, correct. If so I night try and do the set up again. I just want too make sure, I do not need a virus or trojan.

Setup window is a two part run. It will show this even if you install LPE as an upgrade from any other LW version.

Hi, firt time here, need help-lpe-setup-menu.gif

If everything else seems ok, then perhaps just continue as is. Just seems odd LPE would suddenly ask you after weeks of use. If you suddenly see LW starting up at system startup, then it would most likely be due to virus. This was a symptom with a few viruses that were common a few years ago.

As I hinted, perhaps another program, browser or plug-in has/had become the default magnet or torrent handler & LPE then asked if you wished to change back. I know Windows programs love to nag you about things like that. lol I generally use a Mac. I guess Windows users become accustom to the nags & being nagged.
