It says to not download unless you see the symbol. Does anyone know why I cant find songs with this symbol? |

Please Please Help ! HELLO I am trying to find a artist and everytime I find one and it list the songs , it never had the green padlock symbol by any of them like it says it is suppose to. Is it okay for me to still go ahead and download and burn if it does not have this symbol. If not then why cant i find songs with this symbol...... HERE IS WHAT IT SAYS : there is a orange/yellow bar across the top of the search results stating: Only search results with a ( picture of a lock) are offical Limewire communications. If I click on the link "more info" it takes me to a page called VIRUS and TROJAN WARNING --which states: We have received many warnings of viruses and trojans pretending to be updates to LimeWire in your search results. You can only be sure a search result is direct from Lime Wire, LLC if it has a (LOCK) in the quality column. If you have run such an update in the past, LimeWire may be corrupted. You must update with the current official version available here to guarantee you are using the latest official LimeWire. Also note that LimeWire connects you to other computer users like yourself in order to share files, so all of your search results are files from other users like yourself (i.e. - your peers). The only exceptions to this rule are search results with a lock or search results from spammers/advertisers. Learn more about the Gnutella network and peer-to-peer file sharing. ??????? WHAT DO I DO |

Go ahead and d/l-**NEVER D/L AN "EXE" FILE** if you're just seeking audio/video-What the lock is for, is to let you know that that file is straight from L/W-this icon WILL NOT appear ,in most instances, when you search for movies or music-the files that return from the search are almost always from someone else on the GNUTELLA NETWORK, just like yourself-or meif you have ever D/L-ded any songs/video from disk to PC yourself, you should have an idea of the right size of the file you're searching for-AVOID ALL files that seem too large/small to be what you are looking for-they probabaly aren't anything good-from an unwanted toolbar, to a virus or trojan-If there's ANY doubt, simply use your virus/spyware program to scan the file before you open it- that'll help LOTS in finding bad stuff Idiots post to corrupt your sys. |

downloads In effect, if you download any copyrighted material you're breaking the law. When you join Limewire you're asked to agree not to download this material. Flash! Everything is copyrighted. If I lend a friend a CD am I breaking the law? It all depends on your perspective. If you feel morally obligated to download only uncopyrighted material, you'll have very few, if any, choices. It's a dillema I'll agree. But you have to do what you believe is best for you. Good luck. |

There's a lot of legal downloads out there. Far, far more than you could ever use in a lifetime. I alone have 30 gigs of legal stuff few, if any, other people have to offer. Free and Legal Content Jamendo [The Prelinger Archives] Also, don't forget that in some countries (Canada, for example) downloading of everything is legal even if the MAFIAA control freaks don't like it. |
