![]() . Hi, my name is Pierre from Montréal, Québec, Canada. I am a user of Limewire for many years and I upgraded to Limewire Pro a few years ago (Without noticing much difference, to tell the truth, loll) Before using Limewire I have been an enthusiastic user of Napster. The first one, the real one! And I still suffer the loss of it. I was using Napster at the time I switched from a 56k (in reality, 45 kbps) to a high speed cable connection. This was more than 10 years ago. Imagine my excitement when I first experienced high speed with Napster. Wow! It was possible to listen to the song during the download. The song did download faster than it played!! I am still frustrated that this wonderful tool was taken from us. I don't think the matter is simple as saying that there are bad P2Pers depriving good honest authors from their earnings. It is a lot more complicated than that. Maybe it is not the place here to talk about that but I would be happy to do it where ever it is more appropriated. Nowadays I only use LW at rare moments. Only a few times a year, as a matter of fact. My teenager's years were in the 60's and it is mostly the music of my youth that I wanted to retrieve. At first, with Napster, what was so thrilling was to rediscover songs that I had completely forgotten. Yes, I downloaded a lot of those ancient songs at the time and I still have them on my HD but I don't listen to them anymore. The reason is that, today, there are radio stations on the Internet that play this music continuously and I prefer letting someone else do the programming. What brought me here today is that Limewire refuses to connect. I still have a lot of reading to do on this forum but I was asked to first introduce myself. So, now, it is done. Here is my system: 1. Windows Vista Home 2. Windows Firewall 3. 2 Gigs Ram 4. 320 Gigs Hard Drive 5. Cable (more than 10 years now with same ISP) 6. N/A 7. From my house (residential neighborhood) 8. Limewire 4.12.10 pro, Java 1.6.0_03 9. Vidéotron 10. Your test worked!! 11. No, just going through a D-Link DI-604 router (cable connected) 12. It is a new problem I use LW for many years. 13. Yes 14. ? 15. Only Windows Firewall 16. Canada Pierre C. Montreal . |
