To many questions to answer in the introduction.
Just a little glance. I have been using winmx and limewire a year ago but shifted to Vuze, azureus. Am here to find out how I can use this program to directly connect to my brothers PC and HD.

LimeWire or Vuse? I use both myself. I've never used the private connection option for either program. With LW 4 I have many times used the Direct Connect option, but in LW 5 that's been replaced with the Friends option where you can connect using a mail system. Then once signed in can connect directly with friends who are also using LW 5. I'm not the best to ask about how to do this. But thought I'd welcome you to the forums anyway.

Hey there,

To answer the question about connecting to your brother's PC: Only your brother can find out HIS "LimeWire IP address", as that's what it seems to look like. Tell him to navigate to the tabs at the bottom of the search box, and select "Direct Connect", then his LW IP should appear. He should give you this IP, then all you have to do is type in that IP in the Direct Connect search option, then you should be browsing the files he has chose to share over the network.

Depending on his role within his/your PC, if he is an administrator then you may be unentitled to browse his files on the HD, however if he is a limited user, then go to the Library tab and click "Saved files", and you should be able to navigate through there.

I have a suspicion Chiva is using LimeWire 5 right? The Friends option is something I have not yet tried out. Some more details would greatly help us so we can offer advice or refer someone who 'might' know. LimeWire 4's direct connect option was based on knowing the other person's ip address.

Another way to connect is one of you to create a magnet link & sending the address to the other which they could type into their browser & after entering LW will open & attempt to connect directly to download that file. Then can browse the host.
