Hello All I recently downloaded the newest limewire from their website and it gave me a trojan.dldr. :mad2: My Iobit Security 360 caught it when nothing else did. I insist on everyone getting it and scanning your system if you recently downloaded it. Besides that, it's all good. :xirokrotima: |
just to clarify things, where is 'their' website? if it is a legit version then I submit that your scanner is wacked and giving a malicious false positive.... |
Limewire trojan when i said "their" website i mean Limewire's official website. I redownloaded the same thing from the same website scanned it again and didn't find anything. Just not sure if Limewire's downloads are "secure". It has been a few days and my system is still secure so I just wanted to let people know that something may be wrong. I dont like virusus and Im sure noone else does either. Just lookin out for everyone. Thats all I'm sayin. Hackers get into people's downloads and give u thing u dont want. It's happened to most of us all. |
dougbushart It is possible that a hacker could have planted something on the Limewire website, I must admit that I caught something off my bank's website a few months ago so anything is possible. And I have read, in various Internet security publications, that it is one of the ways hackers like to catch the unwary. The web is such a dangerous place now that people should be cautious by using their AV and anti-spyware apps before and after doing any financial transactions and/or any kind of downloading. UK Bob |
there is also the possibility that your browser has been hijacked... |
Always scan I never "run" anything i download. I "save" it then scan it. My system isn't hijacked niether. I recently installed windows 7 to test it out. I has been a few days and i kinda like it but I like xp a little more. I only have 512 MB of memory but it runs well. Windows website says windows 7 needs at least 1 G but i have Windows 7 running along with Avira antivirus, Iobit 360, and i can even run limewire all at the same time without major slowdowns. Thank you for your input though. I appreciate it. |
have you run HiJackThis and even tried to find out if your system has been jacked? the scenario you describe about a trojan filled installer suggests there is indeed the possibility that your browser has been compromised, been there, done that, worn that shirt...luckily I was semi coherent and noticed the tab I was on wasn't https when it was supposed to be..ran HiJackThis and found the problem, fixed it, and I went on with life... you might even has a malware cookie floating around...dunno, but it is a possibility...of course its a possibility that the installer was from LW.com(.org) and it was compromised... |
