Problems trying to start XP Movie Maker

Hi, this is my first time to post here. But not so long ago I got some very help full information in solving a problem with my Limwire. So I thought I would try this form to get information on another software problem. I have Windows XP home edition. Everytime I try to open Windows Movie Maker program, I recieve an error message that says- Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I've tried debugging and sending error reports, and it only closes the program. I've also tried going to Microsoft site for updates and down load them, which didn't seem to help. Any advise?
