Angry Can't open limewire

I have installed limewire many times with no success. The shortcut on my desktop points to d:\bin (javaw.exe). When I double click this icon, nothing happens. I am running win2000 pro. Any help on this one would be appreciated.

naturally, make sure you have java installed. If it is, find the file javaw.exe on your computer.

Make yourself a shortcut that says
"pathtoyourjavawfile\javaw" -classpath RunLime.jar RunLime

next to "start in" make sure it has the path of the directory where LimeWire.jar is.

That should be all you need to do.

I'm having the same problem on winME.

Have reinstalled Java and Limewire several times. Double click the icon, and nothing happens. (Shortcut and target.)

I have the same problem - installed 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 and neither works on W2K Pro... This bites!

Talking icon problems

Clicking on the Limewire Icon on my desktop did nothing. I changed the path to C:\windows\javaw from c:\windows\system and now it works!

Make yourself a shortcut that says
"pathtoyourjavawfile\javaw" -classpath RunLime.jar RunLime

next to "start in" make sure it has the path of the directory where LimeWire.jar is.

That should be all you need to do.

OK, I tried changing the start in path, and I tried using the javaw in the winnt directory... Still no luck. The banner appears. Then the program window appears, but it's empty. And in about 2 seconds, it just dies and closes the window.

Just checking - are you actually testing your suggestions on a Win 2K Pro box?

I'm not testing it on win2k, sorry. I'm using XP pro.

But, I wouldn't use the javaw in the winnt directory, I would use the one installed by Sun's JRE. C:\program files\jdk1.4.0\bin\javaw.exe or something similar.
