Question JRE already installed

The installation program for LimewirePro (v. 2.3.3) attempts to download and install the JRE SE 1.3.1_03, even tho it is already installed on my machine. In the past, I have found there are 3 instances of this in the ADD/REMOVE programs log, due I assume to Limewire's MO of installing a new copy in a new subdirectory with each update, rather than an upgrade of current software. Why doesn't Limewire detect the JRE already installed and what can I do to fix this?

Default

try uninstalling all versions of the JRE, then reinstall LimeWire.

Default Let JRE 1.3 install

Let Limewire install the JRE 1.3. After it finishes, update the Limewire start menu (or desktop) shortcut to point to the JRE 1.4, and uninstall JRE 1.3 in the Control Panel.

Unhappy still having problems

Whenever I get to that point of the installation it doesn't continue with the download of JRE v1.3.1 it says the download has been cancelled limewire will now exit the installation. And it does this with or without JRE v1.4.1 installed.

Unhappy

I'm having the same problem. I have multiple versions of J2SE installed (I'm a Java developer) and don't want to remove all of them just to get it to install.

If I allow LimeWire to try and install the run time environment it allways crashes part of the way through.

Does anyone know where the installer expects to find Java? I can then install it where it expects to find it. Or what setting is it looking for? I have set JAVA_HOME to point to 1.3.1 to no avail.

The ideal, of course, would be to be able to tell the installer where the JRE was.
