rpc stub

I am trying to install the new version of limewire on my laptop. I have Windows 98, and I am downloading the correct version for my computer. I have downloaded the program 4 different times. I have restarted my computer several times, and still have had no luck with installation. I am getting an error message saying something about rpc stub. After I get the error message, the install wizard closes. I just deleted the .exe file from my computer, and I am ready to give up. I found this forum afterwards, and I am looking for some advice. I read the three messages posted by other users with no success.

I do not want an answer telling me to download a different program. I want limewire to work. So, if you have any advice on what to do to get this program on my laptop, I would greatly appreciate it. My email address is josh@tctc.com

PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks,
Josh

alternate installer

I had no idea that their was an alternate installer. Where do I find that at? And, is it the same program?

go back to the same page where you found the Windows installer, and look for the words "Alternate Site". you won't notice a difference, between the two, and if you're having problems running the regular installer, you might do better with the alternate.

still a no go

I went back to limewire.com, to their download page, and clicked on alternate to the right of the windows installer. It succesfully downloaded, and when I went to open it, I got the same message when preparing installshield, or whatever it prepares.

Still a no go. If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate them. I am utterly confused. I have never had a problem like this before. In fact, I deleted my old copy of limewire while the new version was downloading. I never had a problem before when I installed the older copy months ago.

I would appreciate any other ideas.

Thanks,
Josh
