modify, repair, or remove, but no install

I try to install LimeWire but it asks me if I want to modify, repair, or remove LimeWire. I did have an older version on the computer which I attempted to remove through the Add/Remove control panel. (I then deleted the LimeWire directory.) The problem is, that as soon as I choose modify to "add" it back, it says there's no current installation - same thing if I choose repair or remove. But when I open the installer, it acts as though there IS a current installation and doesn't give me the opportunity to do a full installation. What should I do? Thanks.
