Default Limewire error 1714 Windows error(1603)

I have the same problem....I uninstalled the previous version of limewire before installing on a windows 98 machine. The uninstall appeared fine but now I am unable to install the new version from limewire. The error from windows installer is...installer is unable to uninstall previous versions of limewire. I have searched MSDN for any information and have found none. Have you any luck solving this problem?

Hey guys, same problem...finally fixed it after 10 minutes of screwing around.

Get yourself regcleaner.exe (search on the net). Run it and delete all the limewire crap you can find.

Delete all the limewire directories on your machine (don't delete your downloaded mp3's and stuff tho).

Finally: (this is the thing that finally fixed it) RUN REGEDIT. Go to EDIT and FIND. Type 'limewire' and delete every key you find that has limewire in it.

I've had about 8 versions of limewire on my machine and there were about 30 keys left throughout my registry even after the regcleaner. Really old keys from version 1.6 through 2.4.4 and 2.5.x

reran installer and it worked.
