Angry can't run 3.6.15 under windows 98

I have installed, re-installed, and re-installed again 3.6.15 and it still won't run. I click the icon, it acts as though it is loading, and then disappears. I get the Limewire screen for about 5 seconds, it displays the tip of the day, then gone!!!
Please help me, this is getting very frustrating.

Default exact same problem I'm having

If you get an answer to your question, I'd appreciate it if you would share the answer with me. I'll be sure to do the same.

I perplexed. I developed software for a decade and I've never seen an app behave like this.

Wink Similar error to run 3.6.15 but i solved it

I used LW 3.1.0 and Java 2 SE V. 1.3.1_02 on Win98SE. I didn't uninstall LW old version but went straight to upgrade to 3.6.15. After install, 2 LW icons showed on desktop. Click both but can't
run because of an error of javaw.exe. I uninstalled LW and downloaded Windows (International) as guided by Support. Nothing works.

http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...loadfree.shtml
stated it runs with J2SE V. 1.4.2. So I uninstalled Java2 V. 1.3.1 and installed V. 1.4.2. The same error of javaw.exe occurred.

Finally, I uninstalled LW & Java but only installed LW Window (English Only). It detected my pc doesn't have any Java. After installing LW, LW automatically started installing J2SE V. 1.3.1_04. I got puzzled with the inconsistent info on LW web page (LW stated it needs J2SE V. 1.4.2). After finishing both installation provided by LW, I could finally open LW and downloaded something.

But there are still bugs or strange things happened. Firstly, whenever open LW, the first screen pops up that there is an internal error and LW will recover operation soon. Also it asked me to report the bugs by clicking ¡§Send¡¨. Secondly, the ¡§Options¡¨ page cannot see the 3 full buttons of ¡§Ok / Cancel / Help¡¨ but just a thin line which I could still opt for my choice.

I Hope the info will help u guys.

Default

I had issues also with 3.6.15 Pro and XP. I finally resolved it.

I run two versions of Java on my system. I downloaded and installed 1.3.1_04. Then in the browser tab I unchecked IE and Netscape. I downloaded Java 1.4.1_04 and checked IE and Netscape in the browser tab. That ended my problems.

I hope this will help.

Norm
