fatal error, something looking at msi.chm (MSDN) how do i fix this? i have a program called regseeker which removes obsolete registry entries. so far this is the only problem i have had since using it. im not sure if thats whats caused this, since its only supposed to remove registry entries and not files. should i delete the files and remove all registry entries related to limewire? or is there something else vital i have to do? |

Updates I just answered this question for another peer. If using MS OS, 1) Do a manual SEARCH/EXPLORE for all LW files and folders. 2) Manually remove all LW files and folders. 3) Rename your LW Share folder temporarily if you need too. DL directly from LW the latest version. If you got it from another P2P or even off LW you may not actually have a good copy. After you have manually cleared all the old LW files/folders install a new copy of current LW. Sometimes using an app to remove its own older versions, or even Add/Remove Programs doesn't quite get everything. You might also consider defragging just before install. Best Of Luck |

wot about the registry entries? if i just delete the files the setup will still think the first version is there and try to uninstall it. should i delete all registry entries related to limewire too? oh btw. add/remove programs doesnt work either. it just randomly quits the uninstall, even before a window pops up. Not being a Windows person I can't answer your Registry question (wait until chicagojohn responds), however, I am aware of people who have had probs uninstalling. See these links & see if u think they might be helpful: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27108 http://ask-leo.com/archives/000085.html |

LW & Registry Issues Based on my experience with LW and having to do a re-install it isn't necessary to alter / remove the reg keys. If you feel you need to, use a good reg cleaner -- there are several out there. Do the simplest things first. If you use a reg cleaner make sure you know what you are doing and make a restore point before cleaning. I've had clients really screw the pooch because they didn't set their parameters correctly. Even the best reg cleaners aren't exactly for the neophyte and some of the settings are difficult to understand if you don't know what the switch is specifically asking/telling. |

well i removed all the limewire files and it didnt work, so i tried cleaning the registry. didnt work either. i ended up doing a search for all registry entries with *lime* in it and deleted the ones obviously associated with limewire. that worked (i think) but now i need to get the newest java run-time thingy. ah well. at least my limewire is updated now :P |
