can't install update

I have version 3.6.15 and want to update , but when I try to install latest version , I get error messages saying it can't install because it can't uninstall old version.I've tried to uninstall older version ,but I still get the same error message,even tho I have used search to try and find any leftover files that might be causing this problem.I used add/remove program in control panel.
Any help would be appreciated.Please email me with any answer.


I have windows ME,Norton system suite,Goback,in case that helps.

You didn't specify what your OS is but if it is Windows try this: 1) Manually SEARCH for all LW files/folders. 2) When your SEARCH (or you can use EXPLORE) finishes remove all LW files. DL the latest complete verion of LW (It is 4.0.6xxx, I think). Do a clean install. Sometime programs don't actually completely or cleanly UNINSTALL using the Add/Remove feature. Windows generally strips the header off the file rather than actually remove it or just change the filename so that it can't be recognised. Sometimes a file or folder gets left hanging out there with just enough information to screw things up. This is not a LW specific problem, I encounter this very occaisionally with other apps. You could also have received a bad copy of LW. If you didn't get it from LW directly than you should get it from there. I wouldn't put much faith in DL from P2P's claiming to be updated or newwer versions it is easier in the long run to get it directly from LW. Then you know you have the latest app. Best Of Luck.
