Japanese and Java Has anyone else has this problem? When I install Limewire, everything is fine until it tries to install Java. The download of Java is fine, but then as soon as Install shield starts, the whole process switches to Japanese so I can't understand the installation. I muddle through it though and it installs and then Limewire is stuck in Japanese. When I go to www.java.com, it takes to me to the English page by default and when I download it, the same thing happens. I couldn't find any mention of anything like this in the Limewire, Java.com, or Windows Help. I use WinXP SP2 and although I do live in Japan, I'm using WinXP English edition and can't read Japanese well enough to do this. My friends have all given Limewire rave reviews and I'm eager to check it out. Any ideas? |
It's probably related to your operating system or its previous java being Japanese or somehow related to Japanese fonts on your system. LW installers give you an option to choose which language to use for the installation on the 1st installer window. For Java, I don't know but probably recognises something on your OS that is Japanese & the text used then defaults to Japanese. Can you see an option to change the language? Instead of 'that' version of Java (1.4.2 by Blackwell), instead use the Sun Java version which is better: Java 1.5 (take the JRE) 3rd on list! I have my browser set to Japanese text at present, & the sun site gives me an option to switch over to a page in Japanese, but the page is in english. |
