Language page...Blank Hello, I am a Lime Wire Pro user. I was using the program with no problems on Friday Feb 25. Yesterday I clicked on my Lime Wire shortcut and the program "timed out" it didn't say that, but the small Lime Wire screen went blank and then was frozen with nothing in it. Then I get another blank box labeled "Language Options." I deleted the program and re-installed 4.6 yesterday. I click on the shortcut and I see the Lime Wire box appear, then it goes "Blank" and then I receive a blank small box titled "language options" again, with nothing in the box and the program does not allow me to go any further. Does (has) anyone experienced this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chuck  |
stuck on language blank screen I followed LOTRs suggestions to no avail. The strange problem for me is that it starts up but does not show connecting, (the thing on the bottom of the program screen that "slides" back and forth. It just freezes up, "no hourglass" It gets stuck on a blank screen that has "language options" on the top of the blank box!!!! Chuck   |
The language option is normally what comes up with the installer not the program itself. Not unless you're setting the option settings. May I suggest you uninstall LW (Start menu>Programs>LW>Uninstall), & delete the LW Preferences folder found here: Fixes for Limewire & download Java installer to your computer & then install Java. Then go back & download the installer & SAVE the installer to your computer (not install over the net.) Then install LW. If you have the same problem, then reboot your computer & try again. If still same issue then see: Here about other version. Please don't double-post about the same topic; see: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/announ...?s=&forumid=29 |
The language option is also part of LimeWire's setup wizard. |
I have a suspicion the LW installers are not doing a complete cleanup job when installing over the top of older versions. Particularly in regards to shortcuts. I found an older shortcut still in my Start>Programs>LW menu |

I found for my ATI i had to set the D3D settings back to defaults. |

Sorry about that last post. Anyway, pertaining to this problem.... It appears that this is a new bug that conflicts w/ the ATI Radeon series of drivers. I suggest you add this to known bugs. If you have customized your direct3d settings then you must use the default settings in order to run Limewire. I hope to see this corrected either through limewire or ATI in the soon to be future. Anyway please realize that this IS NOT a java installation or installation conflict at all but rather a conflict between Limewire and the ATI Radeon series of drivers. |
AFAIK LW is more than 95% designed using Java. So to say it's not Java related is perhaps slightly off the mark. I might be wrong but. |
Blank Language Screen I, too, have just run into the same problem as the person whom started this thread, KGUN - exact same thing. Uninstalling, reinstalling, upgrading... none of it works. It just won't start - 'freezes on the blank Laguages window... and in some instances, the process won't kill in TaskManager... it just stays running, and even prevents XP Pro from shutting down. This is the only post I've found ANYWHERE about this problem. It appears LOTR seems not to take it too seriously, as if it'll take care of itsself with a few more installation attempts, and then reminds KGUN not to post on this issue twice. That really helps, LOTR. I've re-installed both Java and Limewire about 10 times... No change. I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 5600 Ultra 128mb video card with the latest drivers installed, so it has nothing to do with the "ATI Radeon series of drivers". Serious issue... so it looks like I won't be using their product anytime soon. Their loss. -Steve Kasian |
I don't take seriously? I don't get paid for helping out on the forum & I don't work for LW. But as a moderator I do enforce the Forum Rules (click here) I don't have to offer advice to anybody if I choose not to. There's plenty of other members & contributors. Did you try setting your graphic card back to default to see if it makes any difference? NVIDIA I love sarcastic responses. Good luck to you! :p :D So even after I had posted the links to both versions of Java earlier. You think ... you think it was worth saying what you said even when it solved your issue. Oh so no thanks. |
in response to Pseizure2000's ATI radeon post: THANK YOU! i was experiencing this problem and it was frustrating the hell out of me. now everything is running. thanks. |
I was having the same problem - stuck on the Language Options screen. Resetting my 3D settings (ATI X800) back to default solved the problem. Thanks all. |
