Serious Limewire/Windows Problem

Just recently when i start my limewire it changes the colors and looks of my windows xp and then when i close it windows does back to normal. I have already tried to reinstall it twice and it is doing to same thing. I have 300 files right now and i dont want to loose them. Does anyone have any ideas?
