Question .avi Movies won't play

I am trying to download {edited} with the AVI file extension, and when i try to play them in windows media player 10, it says: "The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.". What am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to merge the two together? With what? If you can help me that would be very much apreciated.

www.divx.com

Download the DivX codec and player from there. You should be able to play those files with them.

Well either try a back up player like vlc (free with built in codecs): http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (choose nearest mirror site) or/& try xtra codes such as either http://www.land.ee/d_nimo_codec.html or http://www.free-codecs.com/
