Limewire cant find a port

Hi guys, I installed limewire on my laptop and everything went fine. My girlfriends laptop on the other hand didn't do to well. I installed LW and when it's loading up, an error pops up telling me that limewire cant get a PORT for incoming or something like that. I uninstalled LW and installed it again, same problem, I even restored the laptop and still get that error message. Anyone, please help! Thanks!!!

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

If your friend can't get to that page then it means that port 6346 is blocked for some reason. Be that via a modem/router or your isp or even a firewall.
Use this as a guide to configure your firewall: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

If your friend's port 6346 is blocked then try another port like 3500 or 20282 The way to see if it's open is do this test: http://home.no.net/tgrumpy/ct/dex.php & choose change the test port no.

What type of router/modem does your friend use? Brand & model no. would help! ;)

So you've read thru both Sticky threads at the top of the Connection Problems section? You said you'd tried every fix/solution.

Do you have XP's firewall active? It's not advisable to run 2 firewall as they may interfere with each other. Choose one or the other.

After opening LW leave it to settle for 10 mins. Try to manually connect. Go to LW's menu>Tools>Options>Connections & untick connect on startup & press apply. Go to File>Disconnect. Wait a minute or 2 then choose File>Connect & give it some time to try to connect ... up to 30 mins.

For a reliable test, ... try any of the free and legitimate files from http://magnetmix.com/video.shtml

If the video of "The Scene" won't download, try the "more info" link and find the web download link as a comparison.

Just click it in your browser whilst LW is open & see if it downlds.
