Default Online Installer Test

We are testing our online installer for a period of time today.

If anyone installing on Windows (free version) has problems retrieving the Full Installer from the network, please post here, along with all relevant info, such as OS version (Win98, WinXP, etc), network connection type (modem, dsl, etc), ISP, System info (ram, etc), Firewall status (which firewall and what is blocked?), and anything else that seems relevant to the problem.

Thanks a bunch!

Right right...

Except that it isn't a beta test, it's for the release installer.

Edit: I suppose that would be a good place to link to this thread. =)

Edit: I suppose saying "we are testing [...]" was probably confusing. A better way to phrase this would be "We are throwing this installer into the wild for a proper, release-mode test."

Angry Just isn't working...

I am trying to install the new limewire (4.9) but it keeps giving me an error.

It gets to a part where it says "locating installer sources"

then after awhile it gives me an error saying:

LimeWire Swarmed Installer cannot locate any download sources, and will now exit.

I just put together a new computer and this is a fresh Windows XP install with Service Pack 2.

I installed the new Java 5.0 as well.

My specs are:

AMD 64 4000 San Diego 2.4 ghz 1gb Cache
1gb OCZ Platinum Rev 2. RAM Dual channel
250 GB Hard Drive
BFG 7800 GTX 256

(It isnt a hardware issue, but it never hurts to brag a little lol)

My internet is working fine (I am posting this, so it seems to be working)

... hmm, I just thought it could be my router settings.

well i dont have access to the source code nor have i tested it thoroughly or hard enough, but port forward 6346 to your computer ip and be sure to disable firewalls and/or allow the stub installer to connect if any firewalls ask you to allow it.

but all seems to work great on my end.

Default Please, no more Online Installer.

When will you get rid of the online installer? I prefer installing things the old fashioned way. This is reminding me of World Of Warcraft patches...

I will try again tommorow to install LimeWire when the online installer is gone.

Don't forget this installer is still under development - we appreciate your input. For the time being, we'll keep offering both installers.

We have updated the online installer - it should be posted on the website in a few minutes.

Please test with the new one and see if it fares better for you.

Thanks!

Default Ill try again

I'll have to give this a try after work, sorry if I seemed mad, I was just frustrated that it wasn't working.

Hopefully it works and you guys lower your bandwidth.

It's a great service I can't live without. Thanks

Woolzy
