![]() Hi' everyone, I have been using Limewire for some time without any problems however, I installed on my friends new computer and the icon won't go from the taskbar. I have clicked exit and everything else I can think of to keep it from staying on her taskbar but nothing works. Under options I have put a dot in shutdown after download, as she she hasn't downloaded anything as she is still learning how to use the computer. But I am worried that the icon simply won't go, it does for a little while whe I click on exit from the taskbar but it always comes back. Any advice appreciated, Joasey. ![]() A couple of possibilties. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Shutdown & make sure it's NOT set for shut down to System Tray. Shutdown immediately is probably the best option here. Shutdown after transfers means it won't close down until all uploads & downlds have completed. Go to Start menu, Settings>Start menu & task bar & make sure LW is not one of those on the list. If LW is continually opening up & I certainly hope it's not, then see LimeWire continually Popping up every few seconds & also Opening at System Startup |

![]() Thank you very much for responding. I will have to go to my friends house to check the settings you have indicated. However, I have just checked mine and even though I have not had a problem I do have a tick in connections under options, where it says connect on start up, should that be unticked?. I didn't quite understand what you mean about going to the start menu , settings and task bar. Do you mean to check the task manager from the task bar?. I checked mine and it's not listed there either. I have Windows XP home SP2. Sorry for not saying that before. Was this the reason my post has red writing and that cross posting is not allowed. I didn't post anywhere else on this forum just this one, is it the wrong one. My friend is away until the 24th so I am unable to check her computer but I wanted to know so I can fix it as soon as she is home. thank you for you patience. Josey. |
