If LimeWire fails to install

Hi, i keep having a problem where limewire won't start and says i need to re-install, when i do it comes up with the error below, it also won't let me uninstall as says it is running but can't close it down. Any idea's. thanks

Try opening your task manager(Ctrl+Alt+Delete), and see if it's listed under Processes. If it is, right click on it and end the process. Then try reinstalling. The proper way to uninstall LW is by going to C:\Program Files\LimeWire\Uninstall.exe. Double click Uninstall.exe. Don't go through the Add or Remove Programs Control Panel.

Where you having any problems with it that made you want to uninstall it, like it opening up on it's own? If so, that's caused by a virus.

Try deleting your preference folder/s ....This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...

To get the correct version showing up....
Remove the themes folder from C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\.limewire....

tried to update from site. downloaded and installed. go to launch program and get limewire setup dialog box but it is blank. have not been able to get past this. any and all suggestions greatly appreciated. thanks

I had a pretty up to date version of Limewire Pro...4.14 or so...all paid for and working just fine...but I too succumbed to the update nagger.. and I had the same thing happen...lost all my downloads, everything in my library ..I went through the same as you with error messages.. I finally downloaded an earlier version of pro.. 4.12.6..but what I finally got was NOT the PRO version 4.14.10
When I tried to log in to upgrade through Limewire, I get a message telling my e mail address doesn't exist. I only ever use two and I tried both and both were rejected. I feel a little ripped off because now I will have to PAY for a new Limewire Pro unless I can somehow retrieve my information from Limewire. They seem unreachable and untouchable.

This update thingy is causing havoc for lots of people at the moment. We don't work for LW & can't explain why these update prompts have suddenly started. You may or may not be able to redownload Pro, depending on when you bought the app & who you bought it from. Read the post below & see if that makes things any clearer.

You could try posting at this other forum & see if any of the LW developers can shed some light on the situation.

If you lost everything in your library, I'd say that your saved folder had been changed from the default location. By default, Windows users' files are saved to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Shared. This is a safe location & saved files won't be effected if LW is removed If people aren't careful with where they save to (eg saving to somewhere within LW's program files) then they stand the chance of losing their files if LW's removed.

HI THERE
I CANNOT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO INSTALL LW. WHEN I DO, IT WILL NOT OPEN. I HAD IT A WEEK AGO, NOW I DONT. I GO TO "ADD AND REMOVE PROGRAMS" BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP. I AM GOING CRAZY HERE., COULD SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE.

Try uninstalling limewire via Start > All programs > Limewire/Uninstaller..
Don't use the Add/Remove programs to do this....

Use your computer's search to look for all files & folders with limewire in the name. If you can't delete them, reboot into safe mode & then try. If they still won't delete, try one of the tools here...
Incomplete Download File won't delete at all.


Then re-install limewire using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link...

If limewire still wont start up for you once you have the new install try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....

HI! new here me too, i cant pen limewire because of this installation. HELP

Last night I went to use limewire, and It kept coming up with a box that said corrupted and a bunch of computer lingo. anyway it says try reinstalling which I did and now i cant download pro. it keeps telling me It has expired and it hasent because I just purchased pro last month, so why do I need to pay again. I emailed suppot and all they say is download it again. well hello I tried telling them 100 times i did but it wants me to repurchase pro again. so what do I do to get pro back with out paying again, cause Im not doing that
