Try this link (Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should) also check in your add/remove programs that you only have one version of java -- if more than 1 delete the older version -- let us know how you get on

Still not working....

I've done this now a few times. Now my error messages is that an older version of Limewire is running and that's why it can't install. I have deleted everything relating to Limewire. I just don't understand. Please help me............

How did you uninstall LW? Should only do it via Start menu -> Programs -> LW -> Uninstall.
Then run this utility: Crap Cleaner

Then use this version: Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!

* You need to be sure you have Java installed. Also online installations of Java are often corrupted, so best to use the OFFLINE installers for Java for safety. Also some versions of Java run better on some people's computers than other versions.

Thanks for the link, for some reason the .7 version didn't want to install but .6 still works. :D

Installation issue

Hi, everyone,
I'm new to this forum (and forums, in general). Have been using Limewire Basic for the last few months and it has worked well. Yesterday, I was prompted to uninstall Lime Wire and install a new version (4.16.7 or something like that). Each time I tried I was given the "corrupted installation" message that it appears so many others have received. I tried using the alternate installer with no luck several ties. I've tried using both IE abd Firefox (which is set up to clean itself with every close out. I know I should supply all the system details I can but some of that information I don't know how to find. The old version did not appear in the install/uninstall utility list (we have Windows XP). I believe the original version resided on the desktop because the icon's properties listed it as an application. There is plenty of room on the hard drive. We use Roadrunner broadband service from Time-Warner, through a Motorola modem and a LinkSys switch serving as a firewall. LimeWire worked previously with all this in place and none of it has been changed. System is protected by McAfee Security Suite. Hope I've give enough information for someone to help. Thanks!

In this thread scroll up to #356 and follow the advice given by LOTR -- this problem is happening to everybody who updates to the new version of late. Hopefully the people in Limewire will sort this out very soon.
