??

this messege box keeps poping up while the file is unpacking.
"This installation is corrupted. Please download and install limewire again."

Try this: Install Java first. Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions already installed (via Add/Remove Programs) before you install the latest update.
Java SE Downloads

Then install LW & use this link:http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe

i tried to upgrade to 4.18 from 4.16 and it started extracting then said error, failed to write. I tried your suggestion with same results, what can be done? I think there are still some old limewire files on my computer but there is no sign of limewire anywhere.

Thanks for the info

I panicked for a moment when updating to 4.18. Had to restart computer. Ran back-up install. Got error message again. Retried and it went through.

1. Add/Remove control panel & remove all previous Java versions.

2. Start menu -> Programs -> LimeWire -> Uninstall.

3. Run this utility: Crap Cleaner

4. Reinstall java using only the OFFLINE java version installer: Download Java software from Sun Microsystems

5. Might be wise to delete the previous LW prefs folder:
Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)
VISTA users see: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html

6. Install LW using this version: http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe (Edit: (this link is presently dead for a time, try instead:) This post by Birdy)

Help

Here's my problem, I try to install LW 4.18.3 but I get this error:"Error! Can't initialize plug-ins directory, Please try again later."

I can give more info as needed, I was just wondering if there have been others with this problem that have been successful in fixing it.

If anyone can assist me I would be most grateful. Thank you.

Did you try the suggestion steps from my previous post #377 above. :) It may or may not work, but is worth trying. ;)
