Trying again now and the screen freezes whilst saying "downloading java runtime environment 7z? then it just stops again? As you can guess I am not very technically minded |
have downloaded bearshare and it was working within 8 mins |
installation fine - but no run. This is especially for Grandpa!! I had a bit of a computer glitch, had to reinstall some applications that lost their links from desktop / were corrupted. Limewire was one of them. It installed fine with no errors, but would not run, either from icon or .exe file. And until i read a post from Grandpa i did not know my Java machine was corrupted! Reinstalled the JRE, and bingo! Limewire is up again. So thank you, grandpa! Wise old head, eh? PS. I have seen a lot of gripes in here about limewire - i have used it for ages through several updates. It is a great thing. Sometimes for other stuff like software i use eMule, but for music and graphics Limewire is so cool. How much did i appreciate your guidance, Grandpa? Well, I registered just to tell you this. Cheers. |
the last gerbil Thank you it is good to know I was able to help. And welcome to the forum. MotokoKusanagi You need to install Java manually follow the instructions below use the offline installer. First go to the first link. You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there. Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary. Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire. Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |
