Have you tried the LimeWire offline installer. If you haven't follow the instructions I left before only use the offline installer's of Java and LimeWire.

Lots of trouble with installation

I have tried every installation for Windows, the backup, the online installer, and the offline installer, and none have worked! This all started when it said there was an update for Limewire and I clicked on it to install. First, while installing, I recieved an error message saying this file could not be opened or something like that, then I recieved about 5 more. After it was finished it said the installation was corrupted and I have to install Limewire again. I looked all over and couldn't find a trace of Limewire left on my computer. So I went to www.limewire.com and tried every installation and got the same message as before. WHAT DO I DO!!??:(

Limewire

Make sure Limewire is not running in the lower right hand tray. Right click then exit Limewire. I hope this works.

bad_doggy, dalbert

First uninstall Java and LimeWire if you can then follow the instructions below.

You will need to go to Start/Run type regedit into the box this will open the registry editor

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER go to software expand it look for Java Script if you find it delete it. Now collapse it.

Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE go to software expand it look for Java, LimeWire & Magnet delete them if you find them.Collapse it

Now go to HKEY_USERS go to S-1-5-21 the first one then go to software expand it look for java if you find it delete it. Collapse it. Close registry editor. After you complete this do a search for LimeWire and Java on your computer anything that comes up delete it.

Be careful when you are in the registry do not delete anything other than I listed above you can mess up your machine if you accidentally uninstall something or change your registry settings.

After you complete the above follow the instructions below.

You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link. You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there.

Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary.

Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire.

Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire.

Grandpa,
Thanks a bunch for all your help. I didn't need to do that last part though because everything started working before i needed to run my saved one. I don't know what the world would do without smart people like you. :)

FIREWALL AND ACCESS

Just downloaded Limewire. When I try to install it, it says that it is usually due to a firewall blocking limewires access to the internet and that i should grant the access.
I am very computer illiterate --- how do i override that firewall and grant access???

thanks
dc

See Connection problems? Check here first! as it gives you all the clues. ;)
A wise person would do these things 1st before installing LW. :)
