Error 1612: Installation source not available

I've tried repeatedly to run the installer, and downloaded it repeatedly as well. It keeps spinning the A:\ drive and then failing with above error. The program shows up in the Install/Unistall window of the Control Panel, but it won't uninstall or anything else. I tried installing the Java runtime which is required, but that didn't help.

-uninstall all versions of LimeWire and Java
-reboot your computer
-download the JRE from Sun's site:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download-windows.html
-reboot computer
-go back to the download page and get the alternate Windows installer - install that version.

But in the original post, the user says that the programs cannot be uninstalled. I'm having the same issue.

try the alternate installer anyway, and see if it installs. if you still have problems, and know how to edit your registry, delete the application, and clear out all refrences to it from the registry, and try again.

Hello!

Check the LimeWire installation logg file and see if all components where installed successfull if not then you can see which files that are refusing to install.

Also since the Uninstaller does not work for some reason then you can manually uninstall each component and put them in the trash then go and install the latest version of JRE and then the latest version of LW and see if everything works as it should.It is very important that you install the latest JRE first and not LW because if you install LW first all kinds of strange problems might occur.
