Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
12. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

* Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

Thumbs down It really DOESNT work

OK, It would be one thing if this was the first time downloading it.. but no. It was already downloaded into my comp for MONTHS and I use it VERY FREQUENTLY I have an XP and here is how it went. I had it in my computer. each time you open the program up it asks if you want to go pro and that there is a newer version available. so.. I said yea Ok I will update it I have nothing else to do. So I get the newer version now I cant get it to even open! Whats wrong here?? I deleted the newer version to get my older one back. still didnt work. I deleted the WHOLE THING still didnt work. System restore still doesnt work. and three versions of limewire I have tried and they dont work.

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Did you update your Java also? That might be part of the problem. For some reason some versions of Java don't run well on some people's systems. So if you previously had Java 1.4.2 & updated to 1.5, then you might be advised to uninstall it using the add/remove control panel & reinsalling 1.4.2

As I said, if one version of Java isn't doing the trick then try the other.
Also install the offline LW version. Gives a better chance of a good installation. Installing over the net for either LW or Java can result in corrupt installations.
BTW what version was the older version you were using?
