You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link you can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there.

Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary.

Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire.

Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire.

i had this same problem.. fixed it.. got to the bit where you sort out the firewall.. then the whole thing crashed.
i had LW on my pc before, wiped my pc, now im trying to install LW again its not working..
ive got norton internet security, but i dont think thats the problem, because it worked before i wiped my pc.
i clicked allow.. then the whole thing froze. this happened 4 or 5 times after restarts and complete shut downs. nothing seems to work. ive also tried the offline and online installers.
can anyone help?

Is this any help: !!Solution!! to LW Problems!!

Another option is to install Java 1st: Links here: Fixes for Limewire, then install the 'Other' version. See Here about other version. BTW if you have windows XP, then disable XP's firewall (go to the control panel, double click on Windoze Firewall, check the disable box) & configure Norton FW instead. Turn off other utilities at this particular moment such as Peerguardian, Ad-ware, Spykiller & AV programs. Reactive them after installation is complete.

i remember this happened with slsk a while ago, there was a problem with norton as it kept auto-blocking slsk... but it was fixed somehow in the next release. hmmm.

thanks for the help.

also,, on a side note..
is edonkey now pay only.. i used to have overnet aaaages ago, and now it seems you have to buy edonkey? or have i just missed the free version link?
