![]() I've tried everything in this post that you all suggested. re-installing java.. deleting .limewire.. setting compatability etc. when my limewire loads it hangs and causes 100 % cpu usage. any suggestions?? Post Script: I have also tried downloading the AMD 64 jre update 5 and it says : This installation is not supported by this processor type and I have Dual AMD 64 fx54's, I think Gnutella neeeds to adress this issue, thank you. ![]() I'm jealous I run an AMD64 3200+ soon to upgrade to a X2 4800+ I do allot of gaming but also do allot of photo editing and the X2 is supposedly better for editing than the FX. With the rest of my setup gaming is no problem current setup is. C:Windows XP PRO E: Windows XP Pro64 bit AMD64 3200+ overclocked 2.3Ghz 2 gig corsair DDR 400 registered memory e-EVGA nVidia 6200 Ultra 256MB 2-Fujitsu 74GB Ultra 320 SCSI 15K rpm hard drives 0-Raid Adaptec 25360 Adapter card 1-Western Digital 120GB By the way the 64 bit will out bench X86 by about 20% Any way if you haven't already done so you may want to try the instructions below you may need to manually edit your registry. If you follow the instructions and LimeWire still doesn't work and you need help on editing you registry post back and I will give further instructions. You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link. You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there. Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary. Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire. Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |

![]() ok.. did all that .. now it loads./. but it loads very very slow and still slams my cpu at 100%.. i think its a java issue, so i may need to wipe everything manually even the registry. if you could pass on your instructions that would be great and ty again. ![]() First you will need to uninstall LimeWire first then Java. After you uninstall them go to Start/Search/All Files and Folders and do a search for Java Delete anything you find. Now go to Start/Run and type in regedit in the run box this will open your registry. Expand HKEY_CLASS_ROOT scroll about half way down and look for any files that say Java if you find any delete them. Collapse it. Expand HKEY_ CURRENT_USER go to software and expand it scroll down and look for any files that say Java delete them. Collapse it. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE scroll down look for any files that say Java delete them also look for a file that says LimeWire delete it there may also be a file named Magnet delete it. Collapse it. Expand HKEY_USERS Scroll down to the first file named S-1-5-21-XXXX expand it scroll down to software expand it. Look for any files that say Java delete them. Collapse it and close the registry editor. Be careful when you are in the registry if you accidentally delete anything or change anything you are not supposed to you can mess your system up. Now go to the links in my first post and save Java and LimeWire to disk then Manually install Java and LimeWire. You may want to go to to the Java site and see if there is any Information on Java versions that work better with FX. I did not do any research on Java and FX. Also make you get LimeWire from the official site the link I gave before. Because if you are getting it from anywhere else it could be corrupt. I was looking at your specks,(Impressive) I see you are not running in 0-raid on your SCSI drives. When you install XP64 you should install it on a separate drive and keep XP on the other. Or if you are running in 0-Raid and you have partitions install it on a separate partition. You will want to keep XP because some of your hardware probably doesn't have drivers that will work with XP64. Most printers will not work with 64. But you will be impressed when you are playing your games. When I am playing Half Life2 on XP64 the every thing looks allot more realistic even with my now outdated 6200. |
