Default Version 4.9 lock up on start up using Windows 98 SE

Okay...I am running under Windows 98 SE and everything was working fine with version 4.8. I got the notice of the newer version and proceeded with the upgrade. It downloaded and installed fine, but once I actually tried to run it, my system crashed. It began as usual with the splash screens, but after about 5 seconds worth of loading, my screen went completely blank and the system locked up. No error messages at all. The only way out: CTRL-ALT-DEL. This error is consistent. I have tried
1. reinstalling limewire with Java on my computer
2. uninstalling all Java programs and then installing limewire.
3. updating to the latest Java and then installing limewire
4. trying all other "fixes" posted in this forum.

Well, the short of it is...nothing works. It's rather frustrating as I rather liked limewire. I just wish I had ignored the upgrade suggestion and stuck with the older version i.e. "if it isn't broke, don't fix it."

Anyway, anyone else out there in a similar boat? Any ideas? It's got to be a Java conflict or possibly a WIN 98 issue. But it has me stumped and I cannot afford to fiddle with it any longer.

If changing your Java version didn't fix it then if you still have a copy of the installer, go back to LW 4.8.1 Send us a pm if you no longer have it.
