Default Problem that doesn't sound like these?

It probably is one of the mentioned problems on the board, just do not sound the same to me. I got LW to install and updated Java, when I go to run LW it starts up and gets me to the start screen and then disappears. I continually try to open it up, sometimes it does not even get past the little box when starting to load and sometimes it gets to the home screen and asks about the upgrade. So what do I need to do to get this to work?

Get rid if Limewire including the Limewire preferences folder. Reboot. Update Java using the offline installer and then reinstall Limewire. You may need to use the offline installer for that too.

This often does the trick

If not please let us have some more details of your set up

If it works please tell us

OK, I take that back. It worked the first time, then when I restarted my computer it did the same as before but then worked the second time. Now it doesn't want to load, it will come up for a few seconds but thats it.

It could be an installation problem (eg: corrupt/incomplete installation of either Java or LW.) In that case it's best to downld the "Offline" installer of each & install it from your computer & not over the net. You could try reinstalling all of these.

It could also be your computer doesn't like Java 1.5 Just a thought, go back to Java 1.4.2
ie: use your add/remove prog control panel to uninstall Java 1.5. Then downld the "Offline" Java installer, link from point #1 here: Fixes for Limewire
