What happens if there is no uninstaller located on your computer, and there is no limewire in windows installer/uninstaller program.
However, when you do a search , there are several files of LimeWire installed. I think that the install was corrupted or partially failed. When I try another install, it get hung up and does not complete. Any suggestions?

You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link. You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there.

Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary.

Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire.

Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire.

Thanks for the quick reply. I finally got it uninstalled by reinstalling it again. The second time I got the uninstall program.

How exactly does LimeWire work? I am uncertain of allowing my computer to share its resources with others. Especially, with the dangers of hackers, viruses, and other dangers of the internet.

The link below will help you to understand how LimeWire works. Basically LimeWire connects you to the Gnutella network where you can share files with other individuals like yourself.

Be aware though there are plenty of viruses out there make sure you keep your anti virus up to date and running whenever you are on the net. Also it is advisable to keep your spy ware detector up to date and running.

It is best to read through the stickies in the open discussion section of this forum for tips and advice on how to properly use the software.

If you use it wisely it is very safe but do your homework before you get to ambitious and start downloading files. Like I said earlier there are lots of nasties out there just waiting for a fool to download them. But if you do your homework and a little reading you should have no problem.
