Question Java Update and Limewire Loading Problem

I have just downloaded LimeWire 4.9.37 and have downloaded the newest Java Runtime Environment (several times). Limewire keeps telling me know that it requires me to download and install the newest version of Java Runtime Envir. Please advise.

Basically, I am running a brand new system with XP Professional 2002 w/ Service Pack 2 on it.

I went through the process of uninstalling and deleting the appropriate folders and programs...to get my computer back to the way it was before installing either program (LW and Java Runtime).

Then, I reinstalled the newest limewire (offline download) and the appropriate java runtime program. Installed Java first, and then loaded up the LW.

Same Error occurred. Please advise.

Did you use the offline installer? You can get it at the link below. Also could you give us the setup of your computer. Is it a name brand or custom built. Also make sure your current version of java is uninstaled. Follow the instructions below.

First uninstall Java and LimeWire if you can then follow the instructions below.

You will need to go to Start/Run type regedit into the box this will open the registry editor

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER go to software expand it look for Java Script if you find it delete it. Now collapse it.

Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE go to software expand it look for Java, LimeWire & Magnet delete them if you find them.Collapse it

Now go to HKEY_USERS go to S-1-5-21 the first one then go to software expand it look for java if you find it delete it. Collapse it. Close registry editor now go back to the original instructions and manually install Java then LimeWire.

Be careful when you are in the registry do not delete anything other than I listed above you can mess up your machine if you accidentally uninstall something or change your registry settings.

I followed the instructions verbatim....but to no avail.

Unfortunately i would presume this has something to do with the fact that I am on my work machine. It is a factory HP PC, and has never given me issues with downloading and running programs. We have free reign here. But as for this issue, I am at a loss.

I do have a decent amount of computer knowledge, but I have no idea where to go from here. I guess I send my thanks but need to give up on the issue (unless there is another suggestion).

Cheers
