![]() Does reinstalling Limewire delete all of your songs from Limewire? I have Limewire but it won't run. It connects and has the little round lime in the corner by the clock but when I click it does not work. Just the daily tips and upgrade to limewire pro pop up and not the program itself. I have a 4 year old computer, Compaq MV540, Windows XP, and 320 mb of RAM. I also did Java updates but it didn't help. So would reinstalling it help but without delete all my my current songs? |

![]() The only way for you to delete your shared files by reinstalling LW would be if you stored your shared files inside the LW program folder. Never a good idea. The default location for downlds is: C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared Yes try re-installing LW using the "Offline" version. Also do points #1 & 2 only here: Fixes for Limewire BTW if your present version of LW is older than 4.4 then you'll need to uninstall it 1st using the Add/Remove control panel. If it's a later version then LW will uninstall it during the installation process. The reason for this is a different type of installer LW uses now. The other type of installer LW also previously used was the so-called international version which should be uninstalled via the Start menu>Programs>LW>Uninstall (or find the uninstaller within the program folder.) Get LW here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) |

![]() Find that folder (the Shared folder), cut & paste it into a different location outside of the program directory. Perhaps paste it to the location I gave earlier. ie: C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared You should also delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample at bottom of page.) In that way, after you install the new version, it will ask you where you want to set your downld location. The default setting will be the one I gave. If you don't do this then it will continue to downld into the program folder which is not good. ![]() |
