"C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire" is where it wants to install it.. yes ive already said that too.. but do u know how it knows where that location is? by looking for the desktop folder - a folder within that same location.. which is just stupid and makes no sence.. why would u look for the desktop folder to know where the users main profile folder is.. its just shitty programming.. anyways.. im over it.. edonky is a hundred times better anyways... not like anybody in here has enough knowledge in computers to help me anyways.. no offence..... wtf are u talking about all the computers have a COMMON desktop.. (that meens they have the SAME desktop folder).. so if something is placed on one computers desktop it is also on the other computers desktops.. if u cant see an advantage in that then i dont know what to say.. cause i sure see one.. and about limewire... the location of the desktop folder should not have anything to do with the way an application works |

Actually I came very close to understanding what you were talking about . But just one other question from a stupid old man have you always been such a rude genius or did you just wake up on the wrong side of the bed. You have quit an attitude do you really think you are better than anybody else or are just an ***. Well I wish you best of luck on life's journey I have a feeling you are really going to need it. |

i know where the application data directory is.. limewire is not installing the application data (.limewire) in that directory.. its installing it in the same directory that the application data directory is in.. the users root directory (documents and settings\username).. the desktop is in there also (normally).. which ive already basically explained 4 times now... in your last post u even said that one version installs it in exactly where im tellin u its installing it... as soon as limewire sees that my desktop location is pointing in a different path it just goes ahead and installs its .limewire directory in a directory relative to that path.. (the desktop's parent directory - which of course is no longer "documents and settings\username")... what significance does the desktop folder have to limewire... nothing.. its like its using it as a reference to where it should be installing its .limewire folder... thats ridiculous... actually heres a real simple way of explaining my problem... forget about my system's setup for a second... if i was to delete my desktop folder.. limewire would not install.. so there.. anybody wanna give me a reason for this? now i know u cannot delete the desktop folder.. but if u changed the shell folder path in the registry to a location that does not exist.. it would look to the system as if its been deleted the desktop should have nothing to do with limewire... except maybe where it sticks its shortcut when its done installing.. (that is if u even told it to put one there) but that isnt the problem here.. Last edited by satnone; January 20th, 2006 at 04:16 AM. |

blah blah blah ... so your app data folder is in same directory as .limewire. Very poor way to have your system set up (as you have it) imho. But that's your choice. Delete your .limewire folder, install LW 4.10 & your new LW prefs will go to app data folder. So then you won't need to look at it. |

or r u trying to say that having a common desktop located on a server is a poor way to have my network set up? cause its actualy pretty convenient.. and no other program has a problem finding the application data folder.. only limewire cause somebody ****** up Last edited by satnone; January 20th, 2006 at 04:24 AM. |

r u completely sure limewire 4.10 installs to the application data folder like every other normal program does? cause if so then i guess thats the solution to my problem... unless of course it just starts creating an application data folder in there now instead of the .limewire folder.. which im sure is exactly whats gonna happen since limewire finds your root user folder by looking for the desktop |
