Default limewire problems

I had Limewire working ok, and when I did a cleanup of my C drive, I could have deleted a Java file, and now LIme wire won't work. I have tried to install Limewire again, but it keeps telling me.. Could not cteate registry key unable to load Java Runtime Environment, get new version at www.java.com. As I already have Java 1.5.0_6 installed on my computer ( I am running Windows XP with service pack 2) I downloaded it again and when I tried to install it again, it said I already have it. When I doubleclick the Jave icon in the control panel it says "The system cannot find the file specified "c:\program files\java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\javacpl.exe

Could someone out there please help me with this, I have tried everything I know, I even did a system restore which did not solve the problem

Kindest regards Lance
have a nice day:

You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link. You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there.

Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary.

Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire.

Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire.

Thanks Grandpa for your quick reply. I am unable to remove J2SE update 4 and 6 from my add and removes program it says in both instances "fatal error during installation" also I have the Standard Edition 1.3.1_16 which previously had some MGs in it, but it is empty now and It won't let me delete it either.
I have downloaded limewire and Java and left it in my downloads until I get further instructions from you.
KIndest regards Lance

You will need to go to Start/Run type regedit into the box this will open the registry editor

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER go to software expand it look for Java Script if you find it delete it. Now collapse it.

Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE go to software expand it look for Java, LimeWire & Magnet delete them if you find them.Collapse it

Now go to HKEY_USERS go to S-1-5-21 the first one then go to software expand it look for java if you find it delete it. Collapse it. Close registry editor now go Start/Search/Files and Folders type in Java delete anything that says java except the new install file you saved to your hard drive.

Once you finish reboot your computer then install Java then LimeWire.

Be careful when you are in the registry do not delete anything other than I listed above you can mess up your machine if you accidentally uninstall something or change your registry settings.
