So, I downloaded the latest version of limewire basic. I install it, everything goes smoothly and I'm feeling giddy. At the end of the installation it asks if you want to launch Limewire, and I do. As you know the first time you start up limewire you get the lil guide asking your language, your type of connection, and where you want to put all of your files. When I get to the end of this and click finish, the box closes, it flashes a couple of things real quick, and then nothing happens.

I've tried clicking the shortcut to open limewire, and it takes me back to the language box. I've tried rebooting, and when my comp boots up the language box appears if I have it set to open limewire when I turn on computer. I can't get past this box for the life of me. Please help

I tried looking at all those threads that that link listed, none of em were the same problem as me. The language box opens perfectly fine, I can see it and everything, but at the end of the configuration settings, it just closes and nothing happens and when I try to start limewire, it starts over again.

Have you tried deleting LW preferences? If not give it a try & reinstall Java using the offline installer. Instructions here:
