Limewire Will Not Open

Boy, I give up. I have tried EVERY solution listed in the forum to get Limewire to open for me. When I double click on the icon, the program starts to open, and just as I get the program open, when the screen that asks if I want to upgrade to Limewire Pro, the program just disappears. I have changed the compatability to Windows 2000, I've installed the JRE 1.5 using the offline installer (twice), I've deleted the "Limewire" folder in my Docs & Settings folder, and have reinstalled, going through all the preferences, and STILL cannot get the program to open. I have also uninstalled AOL's spyware program, and I have Norton Security 2005 Antispyware Version (Windows Firewall is turned off) and have config'ed the settings in the firewall to permit all, and set to File Transfer program. I run Spybot S&D with Teatimer and AdAware, and have no other resident spyware programs running in the background. I'm trying to run Limewire on my Dell Inspiron 9300 and Windows XP Home. Any other suggestions?? This is maddening.

This might sound weird but how about trying changing LW's compatibility to NT.

Have you configured your XP or Norton firewall, & have you enabled UPnP on your modem/router? Check Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)
