![]() Hi there Franco, Same deal with me. I'm not an expert either however, the problem clearly seems to be a bug within the uninstallation file - if it doesn't uninstall itself properly, then it's a mistake from the developers. Having said that, I have heard no news from anyone in my repeated attempts to contact someone with answers and finally have some closure on this incredibly stupid problem. I have re-installed the bloody thing just because I'd rather have the program on my computer rather than an error message that pops up every 5 minutes or so. Now I have a separate error (which will be posted shortly). It involves Limewire automatically re-booting itself every time I close it. This is stupid. It is not in my startup menu and it is not in my system tray. The only explanation I can give is that the developers and/or the publishers of this product did not do enough QA testing before releasing this product (or at least the free version), and did not notice this incredibly inconvenient and completely avoidable error that now seems to have burrowed it's way onto my hard drive. I have a question to ask Franco: 1. Could you please post the error message that you receive so that other computer experts could have a look at it?? And 2. If you re-install Limewire, does it re-install properly and does it automatically start itself up again after you close it? We have only 2 courses of action to take; 1.) Do nothing about it and ignore the problem or 2.) Buy the Pro version and hopefully things will go fine from there. I for one will never buy this product as it has been nothing but an inconvenience and a headache right from the get-go. I hope this helps! |

![]() hi, thanks for the reply Heres a picture of the error ![]() but you can't really read it. it says at the top; one or more necessary files appear to be invalid. This is generally caused by a corrupted installation. Please try downloading and installing limewire again. If the problem persists please caop and send this message to bugs@limewire.com thankyou. I havn't tried re installing it because really i want nothing more to do with it, i have itunes and i don't want limewire at all but i've uninstalled it but i still get that silly message. Thanks for your help. I hope this information is helpful. |

![]() franco, Did you uninstall LW because it kept on popping up all the time, when you didn't want it to (this is caused by a virus)? What you're experiencing sounds like what happens when you have this particular virus & uninstall LW. See point 4 here for some info http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=41432 Within that thread is a link to norbiesworld. If you go to his site & register (it's free), he'll be able to help you get rid of the virus. If you ever do use LW again, please scan files with your AV program before you open them ![]() |

![]() Hi Franco, I had the same problem too. It's an easy fix, don't worry. What I think happened is that you tried to uninstall Limewire through your control panel rather than through the file included in the installation. Annoyingly enough, some programs are sometimes very difficult to uninstall properly. A good general rule of thumb is to always check the program group containing the program you want to delete. If there is an uninstall file, use it rather than uninstalling through the control panel. Okay, here's the fix: 1. go to www.limewire.com 2. Notice the giant "GET IT NOW" red download button, click it. 3. Click get basic 4. Select "I will not use LimeWire for copyright infringement" (or whatever) and click continue 5. Click on Windows (recommended) 6. Save this file to disk, open it up 7. Follow the instructions to install 8. This is pretty self-explanatory however; if in the middle of installation you receive a message saying "LimeWire is still running, please close it [abort] [retry] [cancel]" this is what you have to do: Minimize all windows to show only your desktop, and that silly little error message. Close that silly little error message. Click retry on the installation program. 9. If you would like to uninstall it again, do it through the file created through the installation, NOT THE CONTROL PANEL! 10. If you have problems like it opens and closes again over and over again until you go crazy, follow the steps that this fine fellow (BobbyNaini) has posted: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=39468 I hope that helps! Good luck and let me know! |
