![]() I searched many of the threads here and don't see an apparent answer to this problem- I have WIN XP SP2, no other problems. I downloaded the latest v 4,10 last week. This software and all media are stored on a separate remote drive that is not always turned on. The issue is that every time I turn on the remote drive to access Limewire, the program opens with the startup wizard. That causes me to re-enter all the set-up routines. I am making sure I select apply to each preference window before I move to the next. When finished I save OK. This works fine until the next time it activates and the process starts again. I had v 4.6 and it worked fine. Other users on this machine have downloaded viruses etc. from the default settings so I deleted the program entirely. I do not intend to pay for the Pro version. Thanks in advance. |

![]() I use a Mac and you cannot run a programme like LW from another drive afaik. Windows I'm not sure about, but I'm sure your problem can be solved by installing LW on your main drive. It does not take up much space and you can still designate another drive as your download destination. I'm curious to know where your preference folder is located, as this is automatically located by Limewire in the correct position. If you have moved the folder manually, I suspect you will have this problem. Does this help? a final thought .. the "other users" may well be downloading and using their own version of LW without your knowledge, and deleting it along with the preferences so that you don't find out. This would certainly cause what you are describing to happen. |

![]() Your LW preferences for LW 4.6 will be in a different location to 4.10 if you had to reset your preferences. AFAI can see anyway. It might be an idea to delete the LW prefs in the .limewire folder. ie: delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Step 2 to delete the preferences folder for LW 4.6 which sounds advisable. LW 4.10 may behave more consistently then. If you're running it off an external drive then it's going to be slow to read. This might be part of the reason for problems relating the preferences folder. Particularly if the drive is formatted differently. It may well be to do with permissions also. I believe if you had LW installed on your main drive as Only A Hobo suggested, then you wouldn't have these problems. As far as an external drive for sharing .... I sometimes have a firewire drive for sharing. But if I start up LW with that external drive not turned on then LW forgets about those shares. Even if I turn the drive on & restart LW, LW seems to forget about it. (But only happens if I've opened LW whilst the drive was not turned on.) |

![]() I think you'll find mp3Rocket on this list: Known Scam Sites (click on link) If you enjoy supporting scam sites & keeping them financially affloat, then that's your choice I guess. If LimeWire didn't exist, then that program you're using wouldn't exist either (not in its present design anyway.) At least from now on you can rely on their support only & not ours as we don't know about the bugs & abnormalities of that program & is not a recognised program in the gnutella community. And this is the Gnutella support forums. Last edited by Lord of the Rings; June 6th, 2006 at 11:37 AM. |
