Stuck on "Loading HTML Engine" Help!!! I tried installing Limewire for the first time and during the initial setup it gets stuck on "Loading HTML Engine" and just doesn't move. Does anyone know why? I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. Please Help. Ricky Last edited by ibrickyo; June 22nd, 2006 at 11:02 PM. |

Go to add/remove programs & remove your old Java version. Now download & install Java using the offline installer here http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Once Java's installed, install LW using it's offline installer http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |

Unfortunately, that didn't work. It gets stuck with the screen that says "Loading HTML Engine" with another window in front of it saying that I should set my firewall to allow full access to Limewire. I have disabled my firewall and it still doesn't work. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks. |

Rather than disabling your firewall, it's better to configure it to allow LW access Firewall setup Don't forget that XP has it's own firewall & it will conflict with any others (eg Norton, ZoneAlarm). If you're running 2 firewalls, turn off the XP one & configure the other. If you're just using the XP firewall, configure that. Give it some time to settle down & then see if LW opens. If that doesn't help, post your details (excuse the repeat questions!) OS(Win XP etc) LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see) Firewall you're using Modem/router brand & model ISP Connection type (DSL etc) Where you connect from (home, school etc) Are you sharing a connection with other computers Is this your first try with LW |

I hope you're using the latest LW version 4.12.3 You can also experiment by changing the compatibility mode of LW to windows 2000 or NT. I think it's point 5 here Fixes for Limewire. But you do need to get your firewall configured to allow LW first. |

Well, here is what happens. I am able to download and go through the initial setup. Once I run it, it asks me what language I want. I choose english US and click next. Then "Welcome to Limewire setup wizard. Limewire will guide you through a series of steps to configure Limewire for optimum performance". I click next. It then asks me for a folder for shared files, I choose My documents/my music and I click next. It asks me for my connection speed, I choose DSL and click next. I am then asked if I want to start Limewire automatically at startup. I click next. Then a Limewire dialog window appears saying if my firewall or security settings appear, please unblock and choose to remember the setting. And that's where it gets stuck. If I move that window to the side, I see a window in the background saying "Loading HTML Setting" with a little thingie (sorry, don't know the term) going back and forth, which basically means it isn't frozen. I have disabled xp firewall, and limewire is listed as an application that is allowed to access the internet within my security software (McAfee). I have followed the directions that Birdy has suggested earlier in this thread... Help, I'm still stuck. In reality, I can't change any settings in Limewire b/c I haven't been able to start it up yet. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. |

OS: Win XP 5.1.2600 LW:4.12.3 Java: The only thing I see in my programs is J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 7. Firewall: McAfee Security Modem: d-link wireless G WDA-1320 Router: Netgear wireless G something... ISP: Verizon Avenue Connection type: DSL Connect from home Not sharing connection with other computers This is my first try with LW |

Thank you. I suspect the connection devices might be related to your problem. You need to ensure UPnP is enabled on your devices for LW to be able to communicate directly with them so a port can be opened for it. Have a look under the UPnP section of the following link: Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link); ie: enable UPnP on both the d-link & netgear. Wireless devices almost always have internal NAT firewalls. |

4.12.3 stuck at HTML loading i have the same problem. 4.12.3 is stuck on HTML loading after gathering startup data. i don't have a wireless setup here, and I have Limewire properly enabled in Zonealarm to access any port. I have Limewire 4.10 running on another PC right beside this one and the configs are identical. 4.10 is working fine. i tried both the internet install and the full download install...same result. i updated java to 5.0.7 as suggested, no change. i also disabled Zonealarm, and tried again, , same result. so zonealarm is not the issue, and I never run the WinXP Firewall.... so although the info msg is displaying a gif of the 3 zonealarm alerts, i can't see how that's the problem. appreciate any help. thx. |
