Angry Freebie runs Great Pro Stalls and Locks

I took a plunge and bought the ( NEW)pro-version,after using free for the last year.
Pro locks, stalls and and is not any faster in turbo then free.
I took the advice LM gives on the site changing driver and refresh, that did nothing.

I unistalled the pro-losing $18.88, support didnt ( hasnt yet going on 2 days) responded so now back to using the free version.

If anyone has any advice on this Id apprciate it, I feel like I just got ripped off because Pro is not any better its worse.
Infact pro would have locked while I was in IE at the end of this message I again check my freebie edition and its downloading just fine.

Not a happy customer, but the free limewire is still a good product.
I may think twice before I buy a pro odf anything until I make sure its worth it.

What exactly was the Pro doing? Was it locking/stalling only during downloads, or while searching, or loading pages? Were you getting any error messages?

Hello
It run some times for even and hour or as litle as 5 minutes I can be checking email with other programs open or none. There is no errors its just locks up.
Mean while all other programs will not stall if I have any open they are fine.
I have Java 1.5 Win xp home sp2. I have over 700 in ram running a ATI radeo 9600 128 video card. Have 160 gigs harddrive and a 2.1 celeron .
I run cable at 3mb 2.5 mb is average

I need to stress that the same version FREE is fine and never locks up
and was fine the last year in various versions. The pro-first hous of use were buggy .
I have installed it twice to see I tried upgrade from free, and clean install still no luck,. tried different drivers and tried low levels of refresh down to 65hz as well as changing color res.

I would have cared but I paid fro pro- and it slower and buggy as mentioned.
I wasnt exspecting the pro to cause any problems but it has.

hope this helps describe it better.?

Have you tried updating your Java? I know it shouldn't make any diff because the basic version runs fine, you could try it if you like
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

To be honest I'm not sure what could be causing your problems but other people here might have more clues, wait & see if anyone else responds to your thread. I know it's frustrating for you but be patient & hopefully one of the gurus will have some ideas!

Did you have the preferences for Pro set up exactly the same as basic?

Try deleting the preferences folder, see points 2 & 3 here

Try these for the white/blank screen. Some of them you may not apply to you but just have a look through, you might find a fix!

Loading blank
Grey screen
Grey screen/language options

You may want to post this in the beta section there is virtually no difference in pro and basic other than allowing you to connect to more host and a different splash screen. If your computer runs fine with basic then it should run fine with pro. The link below will take you to the LimeWire beta section.

There may be no difference but I unistalled both and pro fails, there is some other difference, perhaps how it handles more hosts maybe uses active x or something.

Been using free versions over a year, makes no sense why pro would not work. PS it left in tray it tends to work longer. but eventually just stops and freezes.

Now the free version is acting buggy having never done it before, I could not find my older version so installed the new free.

This tells me that this new version is the problem.
Been through the beta see no help ?????

Did you try deleting your LW preferences? LW is different to what it used to be so deleting the LW prefs will be a good thing to do.

Which version of Java are you using? You could always try the Java beta 1.6 as it's had good reports. However, in order to use it with LW, you'll need to remove all other Java versions or else LW won't see it. Get the 1.6 here: http://java.sun.com/javase/6/download.jsp JRE "Offline" version which is a 15.72 MB download

Unhappy thasks everyone

Thanks everyone the older 4.9 pro works fine as well as 4.10 and 4.11

I am getting the run around at support at LW I will just deal with it since LW support doesn't want to help.
Aren't even reading my emails, there just generally responding.

Thanks for all the assistance.

I'll wait until 4.13 comes out maybe it will fix the problem.,
