Default Move downloads from one PC to another

I want to start using LimeWire on a different PC than I am currently using. The last time I did this, I lost all the incomplete downloads and had to start those from scratch. Is there a way to move the Incomplete folder to a different PC and have LimeWire pick up where it left off? Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, copy the Incomplete folder inclusive the dat and bak files. And then you move the copied folder. The shared folder and the Incomplete folder are usually stored in the same place.(i.e. for me: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.<your computer name>\ )
Limewire needs those to files to know which parts it has already downloaded.

Default That didn't work

That's exactly what I did, but even though all the downloads were there, the progress on all of them was reset to 0 (zero) - all the progress was lost. I thought that was stored in the incomplete files, but LimeWire somehow didn't get the message.

It can probably be a little tricky. What I'd suggest is ... install LW on the new computer, then close LW. Then replace the incomplete folder or its contents with the incomplete folder from the old computer. Then open LW again & it should be fine.

If you attempt to move the incomplete files whilst LW is open then yes you will definitely run into problems! Besides, you still probably have a backup of the downloads.dat & .bak files so replace the newer ones. LW 4.12.4 has the ability to continue old downloads if you resume them from the Library window incomplete folder by selecting the incomplete files & pressing Resume.

Cool Incomplete Downloads seen as 0% after Reinstall

Yeah Im in the same place!
I belive it has something to do with the "DAT" Files located in the Incomplete folder.

I had to reinstall Limewire 4.12.3 Pro
When I did I had 3 Incomplete downloads & all were @ aprox 90% complete.
All 3 are Movies so you know they are very large, Aprox 2.GB In total .
Prior to the reinstall I copied the whole incomplete folder, DAT Files & all & placed it(the incomplete folder) onto a "External USB Hard Disc"
as a backup.
So I do have that in case it might do some good,mean-while I am trying to learn how to remedy this issue.

After the reinstall I noticed the incomplete downloads(movies) reverted to 0%
Im afraid I have lost what has taken Me many many days worth of downloading unless someone can answer this thread & tell Me what I can do to save the percentage.

PS;

When I Launch Limewire & select to preview 1 of the incomplete downloads that is seen @ 0% complete.
I can (preview/watch) almost the whole Movie in it's entirety but Limewire still list's it as 0% complete.

I know if I select resume & search for Host's I will indeed resume the download of the incomplete file, but once I do I will loose the 90% & have to start from the begining.
I have seen it happen with small music files.

Surely there must be a step to take prior to reinstalling limewire that will circumvent this issue.

Thanx for any Help & or Direction
Pointman

Pointman

This may or may not work

If you still have those incomplete files backed up, try replacing them again after having resumed the downloads along with the downloads.dat file (While Limewire is closed of course)

good luck

Thumbs up 0% files fixed for Me

Sleepless"good Idea"!
I know it has been a while since I first posted but I got caught up .
I noticed that all the files in question had been changed!
They now had a period(.) or a hyphen(-) in between each word in the file-name.
Something that originally was not so.
Anyhow I went in & manualy renamed them back to thier original file names & Re-launched LW & clicked on resume.
Aprox 5 min's after I connected to a host I noticed that the percentage jumped back up to 90% or so like it should have!

You are probably asking "how I could have noticed the periods within the file-names".
Well you see I always copy the filename of the file I am downloading onto a txt file.
Why?
That way if I have to restart a DL the next day but can find no results,
I can search with the exact same criteria that I did the day before & usually find a host.
That is how & why I noticed it.

Why were the file's re-named?
Why would there be a period or a hyphen in between each & every word in the Filename?
I don't know.
But because the file-names were not the same, they would of course register as 0% complete.
That's because the new(CHANGED FILENAME) was never actualy started as a Download.
This is all really just conjecture(guess's) but reguardless My 0% completed downloads have all been fixed & are now complete!

Thanx for your input Sleepless
PS; I thought I had already answered this post sorry about the Delay!

Good to hear

So the root of the problem might just be that Limewire can't read spaces very well. Then the forcecheck option that I have requested is not really needed. They can just make Limewire see every space as a period (.) PERIOD
