You could try getting the "Other" LW version listed at the bottom of the LW downloads. All you do is unzip & use. If it won't work, then you'll need to give CCleaner a total run thru of cleaning up your system. See Here about other version.

Angry Same problem

Hi, I've been having the exact same problem.

I uninstalled Limewire by going to start/menu/limewire/uninstall, rather than the add/remove route. However, I'm having the same problems.

I've installed Ccleaner, as suggested. However, like the other user, when I go to tools, and try to find limewire, it is not there.

I've also tried installing another version of Limewire, however, it will not let me install. Instead, a message appears, saying "an older version is still running, delete this first" etc.

Any suggestions?

The original limewire files are still present where I first downloaded it, however, I can't manually delete them, an error message appears...

Help!

Open your Task Manager (crlt & alt + delete -one time) and go to the Processes Tab; look whether the limewire.exe is running. If so, force the process to end, then try to install LW again.

Woah! Great suggestion.... For some reason though, my computer isn't letting me do ctrl.alt.del....

Which is really worrying.... My computer is functioning just fine, but it won't let me do that... Ok...is it possible that limewire has gone crazy and is doing this? Is there another reason ctrl.alt.del is having NO effect, for the first time since i bought my laptop 6 months ago?!?!

AND, task manager doesn't respond even when I right-click the taskbar, and then select "Task Manager" from there....

I've also tried right clicking on the taskbar, and then clicking "Task Manager", but it doesn't appear when I press it....

Yes, a worm/trojan/ virus.........you can google for it ("Can't open Task Manager" as search query).

If you can't get rid of it, go here and register for free. Norbie will tell you what to do after you've posted the Hijackthis log:

If you can't start your Task Manager then you've most likely a worm or trojan hidding in your system, as I have suggested in the answer above.
So, follow my advice and then try installing LW again.
Otherwise you should answer questions asked by me in the other posts (but yet not answered from you) to help you further.
