foolofthehill has a spectacular aura about
Default

And what would that "everything" have been??
Uninstalling LW and all Java versions on your computer, rebooting and then installing the newest Java version using the JRE offline installer downloaded from here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
And after doing so, restarted the computer, re-installed LW and made sure to add LW to the exceptions of your firewall???

If you haven't done one of the above yet, well, then that would be my advice.

Default It worked

Thanks for the advice. I have been tearing my hair out to get limewire to launch. It had all been working fine until today. Followed your advice, deleted Java (was an old 1.4 version), deleted limewire, reinstalled Java 1.5 and then limewire, and hey presto, all was ok!

Many thanks for your help. I just wonder why limewire should have required the java update today. Or maybe it was just the reinstallaion that did it. Anyway, it worked for me
