Does it give an error or just get stuck somewhere in the process? Please give a little more detail about setup, and if it gives an error, then what exactly does it say? Here are some other common fixes. Maybe you get lucky with one of them. Fixes for Limewire Click me |

I don't really know why you posted that question in this thread, but anyways.. Uninstall Limewire using Start>Programs>Limewire>uninstall Then do a search and delete everything Limewire related (not your downloads off course ) including preference folder, incomplete folder, themes etc. If you are using the default save location (shared) folder then move it to somewhere that Limewire can't find it when you reinstall. (You can move the files back later or just share them from the new location after reinstalling Limewire) Remove all java through add/remove programs and then reboot your PC. If you have a registry cleaner then use it to find traces of both programs (there is no need to delete other entries then for these programs) Then reboot again This program has a pretty good registry cleaner in case you don't have one already http://www.ccleaner.com/ Now reinstall Java. Current version is now 5.0 update 9 I see. Choose this one Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9 and choose the offline installer http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Download Limewire again from www.limewire.com and again choose the offline version. Install Java first and then reboot again before installing limewire. Hopefully that should work. |

Is that the exact message ? Also please provide more details on setup example here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=61866 On that one Limewire is installed and just won't run properly, but you get the idea right ? Also please include what kind of antivirus/spyware software you use, and how your firewall setup is like. It really seems like something is blocking Limewire. Also are you logged in as an administrator or just a user with some privileges ? |

The first thing I see here is that you are using two firewalls. Always use one, as they will most likely inhibit each other from working correctly. Second WinAntivirus (Whos firewall you are using) is on Spyware Warriors Rogue Spywarelist http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm just press it and scroll down. It's in alphabetical order. I would recommend that you uninstall it and clean your PC hopefully getting completely rid of it. There are good alternatives here that are free: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=58603 I would recommend getting the Sygate firewall at least. Very user friendly and effective. If you are looking for free antivirus as well then try AVG Free And for Antispyware Ewido (free version is almost the full version and is updatable after the trial period is over) Also please provide the other info I asked for. You did not answer all questions |
