Default Installing Limewire on a USB drive?

Hello,
Please forgive me if this topic has already been covered, but I can't seem to find it in my searches of the forum.
Is it possible to install Limewire on a USB storage drive? I've got a number of portable apps on mine such as Thunderbird, Firefox, Kalendar, etc... None of them leave any trace of their existance on the computer that I'm using. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to drop by the library, plug in and download a few files and be on your way?
If it's impossible, I suppose my life will go on, but I must admit it would be great if someone could help me make this happen. Many thanks in advance...

I think this is what you are after http://www.limewire.org/blog/?p=197

I'm not an expert on windows, but afaik it is not possible to do this. On Mac It cannot be done to my knowledge, but the writing is on the wall, and I have a wonderful image of you sneaking into the Library and performing your hit and run I hope it happens soon.... Beautiful

Brilliant! That's what I'm looking for, as soon as that fellow makes it happen. I'd love to say that I could try my hand at rewriting Limewire, but I'm no programmer. I'd end up with a program that sends copies of my passwords to everyone on the net while cursing at me in chinese. ) I'll wait patiently and make my library run when those that are smarter than myself hash out the programming.

Theoretically, there is no reason why you cannot download a windows application onto a USB drive. However, installation is another matter because most applications need to load some/part of themselves in to the windows directory, which is usually on the "C" drive.

Therefore, unless windows itself is present then your windows application will not install or work, this will include LimeWire.

I see what you're syaing, but I was hoping to be able to put the usb drive in any computer and boot up the program without anything being installed in the windows directory. For instance, at portableapps.com you can get Mozilla's Firefox browser that will act like this. It runs completely off of the drive without needing to place entries in the windows registry and such.

Like the fellow above mentioned, there's some brilliant programmer working on tweaking Limewire to make a portable version like this. I'll just have to wait patiently until it gets sorted out.
