I have successfully installed limewire pro but when I try to start up I get the message: One or more neccessary files appear to be invalid. This is generally caused by a corrupted installation. Please try downloading and installing limewire again.

I have reinstalled it twice but still get the same message.

If still no good, download the 'Other' version listed in a sticky at the top of this section.

Tried downloading the 'other' version but once again on starting limewire exactly the same message comes up (see above). This is driving me mental. Has anyone any other suggestions?

So you re-installed java using the "Offline" version?

"settings directory not writable" is interesting. Why isn't it able to write. Are you sure you tried all the steps in my link above including admin.

If you've tried all of those steps then I'll leave it up for others to make suggestions.

Hi, i have the same problem and i have tried all the fixes you have listed! Nothing seems to be helping and i was hoping somebody might have come up with a solution to this problem, and if you have can u please let me know what it is. I have uninstalled Limewire and tried downloading it again plenty of times but nothing is helping and everytime the same message comes up.

Try this ... Uninstall LW using the Start menu > Programs > LW > Uninstall.
Remove your LW preferences folder as described in the fixes for LW.
Then use the Add/Remove control panel to remove ALL versions of Java listed. Then reboot computer. Then download the "Offline" Java installer which is about a 15 MB download; http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp. Then install this offline Java.

Then follow instructions here Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!.
(If you're a pro user you will find this listed as one of your options near the bottom of your personal download page.)

Everything was working fine and i was downloading songs. When i turned of my computer and later turned it on again to use Limewire i couldnt find it. I looked everywhere! So i have downloaded it again the same way, but can you please tell me how i can save it to my computer so next time i turn it on its there. Preferably on the desktop.

i have been using limewire for a year now and for some reason the other day it wouldnt connect i.e firewall errors so i uninstalled it and now it has some windows error that wont allow it to download properly.

Any suggestions?

Miranda:-D when you install LW it gives you the option of having a shortcut on the desktop. You should also be able to find it under Start menu > Programs > LimeWire
