error message; security.

Hi, im not sure what ive done to my Limewire. When i now go to my libary, to the left of every song, is the Windows logo (red, green, yellow, blue circle) that wasnt there before. When i click on a song to play the error message: 'Limewire will not launch the specified file for security reasons'
I can not download any more songs either, i get the following message:'Limewire is unable to find a license for this file. Download anyway? Please note: Limewire cannot monitor or control the content of the Gnutella network: Please respect your local copyright laws.'
Any one help? thanks

The Windows logo is there because of the type of file.
mp3's usually have the WMA logo...
[Why you get the Windows logo is beyond me...]
NOTE: Many WMAs downloaded from LimeWire will not play.
Nor will music that have licenses. (A little block)
- I would stay away from those...

However... then the message: 'Limewire is unable to find a license for this file. Download anyway? Please note: Limewire cannot monitor or control the content of the Gnutella network: Please respect your local copyright laws.'

... have you tried clicking 'Yes'?
Note: I would say that about a good 99% of the content in LimeWire needs to be answered Yes....

Hi, thanks for taking time to reply. The windows logos only appeared the other day and are next to every song, before that, all songs played ok and everything downloaded ok. I will press yes and see what happens.

I have also noticed that every song is now an Exe (type) and they are all now the same size 408.0KB., which before they were all different lenghts.
All very confusing.
Update; i said yes to the download question and it seems to have worked ok!!
Loks like i may have to delete my whole libary and start again, which is gonna be a pain.

I reckon it sounds like you're infected. A few people have had this happen lately...there's probably a new virus on the loose.
File types should not change. LW does not change file types. Are you scanning files with your AV before you open them?

Scan your computer with a good, updated AV. It wouldn't hurt to scan for spy/adware as well. There are links to programs within the thread below.

If your scans don't find a virus/trojan/worm etc, I'd suggest you go to a help site for this. You may need to post a HijackThis log & we can't read those. See point 5 here for links
WARNING: Viruses on the network you should be aware of
